Our mission to engage and empower local youth through educational and employment opportunities. How workforce development for youth has a great impact on the New Orleans community, highlighting the accomplishments of our young people. Approaching the 20th anniversary of our organization and reflecting on the collective impact we have had on the youth and the impact we’ve made in the city through the work the young people have accomplished (20+ homes).

Presenter Biography

John Coyle
John Coyle serves as the construction manager for Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, teaching local youth, basic construction skills and life lessons. John moved to New Orleans in 2008 to get his masters in architecture and get involved with the post Katrina rebuilding effort. John is passionate about community service, green infrastructure and education. In 2020, John founded Urbanscapes to focus on stormwater management projects and completed the design and build of the Greenway Plaza in mid city. John also teaches the design build studio at Tulane school of Architecture Small Center for Collaborative Design. John believes his work should be in service of others, whether it is teaching, mitigating stormwater, rebuilding for those in need, or creating inclusive public spaces.
