Nouveau Né Parish On The Blue Tech Delta; Reimagining the Future of the Louisiana Estuary

Presentation Description

As goes the resiliency of our gulf coast communities, so goes the future of Louisiana. I will present on the status and potential of the Blue Economy and Blue Tech development, deployment, and exponential scaling in the Louisiana Estuary (toward realization of a blue tech unicorn). I will contextualize our region within the globe climate crisis; tie together the component roles of Blue technology verticals; describe how the integration of critical sector components can develop a supportive Innovation Ecosystem; and layout an economic development-based roadmap towards the region establishing global leadership in the delivery of community-based climate resilience solution sets and Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives. I will describe solution sets that are applicable, lucrative, and will be in ever-growing demand around the world in the decades to come.

Presenter Bio

Greg Delaune
Greg Delaune is Managing Director and cofounder of Deep Blue Institute, and Founder & Executive Director of the nonprofit Deep Blue Academy, both focused on regional and international-scale maritime economy policy and technology development. He is creator and host of the Blue Economy Primer podcast. He is a board member for the New Orleans-based Data Center, and CEO and cofounder of The Urban Innovation Exchange (UIX Global). He has 25 years of international sustainable economic development experience, along with 10 years of green & cleantech incubation / acceleration experience as a tech scout, startup mentor, and judge. He is an internationally recognized consultant, teacher, speaker, and writer specializing in sustainable economic development and public-private partnerships (PPPs) for Green Cities and Smart Cities.    Greg is an architect, licensed landscape architect, and urban planner. He has a Master of City Planning, and a Professional Master of Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley, a Professional Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master’s of Sustainability and Local Economic Development from the University of Ferrara, Italy.    Greg was cofounder, coordinator, and adjunct professor for the EcoPolis International Master in Sustainability and Local Economic Development at the University of Ferrara, Italy. He has extensive international experience managing multidisciplinary teams in the formulation and execution of innovative development strategies, including applied research on integrated circular and regenerative economy tools and techniques for emerging economies in peripheral Europe, SE Asia, and Latin America (e.g., Italy, Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay).
