Ruth Messinger is this year’s keynote speaker. With the American Jewish World Service, Ruth has granted over $270 million to promote human rights in the developing world. Ruth is also responsible for large contributions to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. She is a believer in direct giving and will share her insights with a keynote conversation.

Presenter Biography

Ruth Messinger
Ruth W. Messinger served as President of American Jewish World Service (AJWS) from 1998 to 2016 and is now the organization’s Global Ambassador, continuing her advocacy for oppressed communities. Previously, she spent 20 years in public service in New York City. During her 18-year leadership, AJWS granted over $270 million for global human rights, launching campaigns on issues like the Darfur genocide, food aid reform, and violence against women and LGBT people. Ruth is also involved in international human rights work, serves as a Social Justice Fellow at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and has received numerous awards and honors for her leadership. She holds degrees from Radcliffe College and the University of Oklahoma, and is married with three children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
